About us
Patrick Serex, CEO of ChkOBD, is a pioneer in image editing software, having developed groundbreaking technologies well before Photoshop. With an Electronics Engineering degree from the Geneva Engineering College (EIG) and additional studies in Business and Administration at the University of Geneva, he has over 35 years of experience in software development and graphical imaging technologies. Recognizing the need for a user-friendly and visually appealing OBD scanner, he founded ChkOBD to help drivers easily understand their vehicle’s technical health.
Before ChkOBD, Patrick Serex founded several innovative companies. In 1983, he created Image-In, one of the first Windows-based image editing software programs, featuring early AI-driven Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and raster-to-vector conversion. Hyundai acquired the company in 1994. In 1995, he launched FotoWire (later SilverWire), which pioneered e-photofinishing, providing automated digital photo printing solutions to independent labs. This early Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model led to SilverWire’s acquisition by Hewlett-Packard in 2006. He also founded eXaPhoto, which leveraged imaging technologies to create high-speed image galleries.
ChkOBD is powered by a dedicated team of engineers and automotive industry specialists who share a passion for technology and innovation. Together, they strive to provide an intuitive, informative, and visually engaging OBD scanner, making vehicle diagnostics more accessible to everyone.
